What makes a Survival game on Roblox
Survival on Roblox runs on one of two clocks. Either something is coming for you and you have to last until it stops, or nothing is coming and you have to build fast enough to matter before the map turns on you. Almost every game on this shelf is one clock or the other, and the ones that combine them — gather in daylight, hold the camp after dark — are the ones people keep coming back to.
The night-cycle games are the current centre of the genre. 99 Nights in the Forest runs the loop plainly: gather and craft by day, defend by dark, with the pressure rising each night. Dead Rails puts the same idea on a moving train through zombie country. A Dusty Trip makes the thing you keep alive a van rather than a camp, so the repairs are the game. Dandy's World and Rainbow Friends give the loop a horror skin, and both appear on the Horror shelf too.
The rest of the shelf is older and stranger. Natural Disaster Survival is one of the oldest games in this catalog and still a perfect five-minute idea: small map, random disaster, do not die. Build a Boat for Treasure and Islands are survival as engineering — one asks you to build something that survives the journey, the other is a cosy Skyblock loop of farming, crafting and automation. Flood Escape 2 turns a climb into a race against rising water. Apocalypse Rising 2 and The Wild West are the ones where the thing that actually kills you is another player.
What this shelf holds
This shelf holds 22 Survival games. 19 of them carry a second genre tag, most often with Horror (8 of them), so they are shelved twice. Its release years run from 2008 to 2025. All 22 carry live figures pulled from Roblox’s public games API on Sep 13, 2026: the busiest right now is 99 Nights in the Forest with about 156,135 players in-game. The best-reviewed is Zombie Attack at 94.3% positive across 1,451,116 votes; the median rating over the 22 games here with at least 100 votes is 90.2%.
Where to start
The genuine skill in this genre is knowing what to abandon. Most losses in a night-cycle game come from one person going back for a last resource with the light already gone. Play with other people where you can — nearly everything here is built for a group, and the co-op entries are close to unplayable alone. Start with 99 Nights in the Forest for the modern version of the loop, Natural Disaster Survival when you have five minutes and no plan, Build a Boat for Treasure if you would rather build than fight, and Evade if you want the version where running away has become the entire skill.
