Here's a thing newcomers don't always know: nearly every game on Roblox is free to play. There's no upfront cost to open Adopt Me, Blox Fruits, or Doors. So "best free Roblox games" really means "best games, since they're basically all free" — the useful version of the question is which free games are actually worth your time, and where the rare exceptions are.
The best free games, by genre
Every game in this list is free to start:

What "free" really costs
Free-to-play doesn't mean free-of-spending. Most games offer optional purchases with Robux — cosmetics, boosts, gamepasses — and a few are built to nudge you toward them. The good news is that none of the games above require spending to enjoy. You can play any of them for free, forever, and only spend if you choose to.
The rare paid exceptions
A handful of Roblox games charge a one-time Robux price at the door instead of letting you in free. They are genuinely rare: across the games in our catalog, exactly one is behind a paid door today, and it is Deepwoken — a hardcore RPG where death is permanent, priced as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. The famous counter-example is Welcome to Bloxburg. For years it was the game people named when they said "paid Roblox game", and plenty of guides still say so. It is free to play now. If you remember being told you needed to buy it, that has not been true for a long time.
The lesson generalises. Roblox access prices change, and a guide that hard-codes one goes stale quietly, so we do not print a price we have not just read from the API. When you land on a game page here, a paid game says so with the price it actually charges; every other game is free to enter.
The bottom line
Don't filter Roblox by price — filter it by what you want to play, because the price is almost always zero. Use the genres to find your lane and the similar-games lists to keep going. If you want to be careful with Robux, just remember: enjoy the game first, and only spend once you're sure you love it.
