The Best Roblox Games for Halloween

Halloween is the one night the whole platform leans the same direction, and the temptation is to reach for a list of the scariest games and call it done. That misses half the holiday. A good Halloween session might be a haunted-house run with two friends, but it might just as easily be a party game for eight people on a call, an hour spent building a costume, or a long survival night that only feels right in October. We keep a standing list of the best horror games and a ranking of the scariest ones by how they get you. This is the seasonal cut across all of it, one pick at a time.

We first published this list on September 2, 2026, when almost no Halloween events had been announced, and said so. On October 21 we checked again. Every player count for the fourteen picks is from Roblox's games API at 15:05 UTC that day, a weekday morning in the Americas, and every claim about an event comes from the game's own Roblox record: its title, its description and its badge list.

What is actually running this October

Ten days before Halloween, five of the fourteen picks show a Halloween event in their own Roblox record. The other nine show no Halloween wording in their title, description or badges, which does not prove there is no pumpkin anywhere inside them, only that the developer has not announced one where Roblox shows it.

The two biggest games on the list are also the two with no seasonal sign at all. Murder Mystery 2 is the bigger surprise: it had about 143,000 players when we first wrote this, and on October 21 it was the second-busiest game on Roblox's Top Playing Now chart, with more than five times that crowd. Nothing in its title, description or twelve badges says why.

The Halloween tag, counted

Roblox developers announce a seasonal update the same way: they put it in the game's title, usually as a pumpkin emoji in brackets or the word Halloween in capitals. That makes the season countable. At 15:06 UTC on October 21 we read every game on all 26 game sorts of Roblox's Charts (881 different games) and counted the titles carrying a pumpkin emoji or the words Halloween, Hallows, Spooky, Pumpkin or Trick or Treat.

• 157 of the 881 charting games carry one, about one in six.
• On Top Playing Now, 29 of 97 games carry one, and they hold 22.4% of the 6,118,593 players counted on that chart.
• On Top Earning it is 39 of 98, the highest share of any chart with more than 75 games; on Top Rated it is 8 of 100.
• In our own catalog, 23 of the 121 games Roblox returned a record for show Halloween wording in the title or the description.

Read the gap between Top Earning and Top Rated as a hint, not a verdict. Many of the Halloween updates described below come with something to buy (a season pass, a limited battle pass, an event shop), and the games that sell the most are the ones most likely to run one. That is not a reason to skip them. It is a reason to know, before you open a game for the event, whether the event is a map or a storefront.

The haunted main event

The centerpiece booking for a night that is supposed to be scary.

DOORS is still the platform's definitive haunted house: a hotel of numbered rooms, each door a small wager, with entities you learn to survive by their sound cues. It had 34,675 players on October 21 on 7.9 billion lifetime visits, and it remains the single best answer to "we want to be scared but keep laughing." Its October news is not seasonal. The description now leads with a new stairwell, and 15 badges dated October 2 arrived with it, so a Halloween visit this year is really a visit to the newest floor. If the hotel runs dry before midnight, we keep a whole list of games like Doors.

Forsaken earns the slot by making the monster a player. One killer drawn from Roblox mythology hunts a lobby of survivors who fight back with character kits. It had 45,908 players on October 21 and an update that same day, but no Halloween wording anywhere in its record. It does not need any: it is horror at party pace, and losing is funny enough that nobody quits.

Evade turns the haunt into cardio: nextbot faces chase whole lobbies through mazes, and survival is mostly about not laughing so hard you stop running. It is the only one of the three running a declared Halloween event. Its description opens with "The Halloween Event is out", where you collect Wisps and Spellbooks to buy themed items, and it had 72,863 players on 9.35 billion visits, nearly three times the 26,000 we counted on September 2.

For the Halloween party call

Games that seat a full voice call, where the fun is the group, not the fear.

Murder Mystery 2 is the knife-in-the-dark parlor game the holiday was made for: one murderer, one sheriff, a room full of suspects. With 782,678 players on October 21 on 31.5 billion visits, it is the biggest thing on this list by a distance, and rounds are two minutes, which means nobody on the call waits long dead. Its record mentions no Halloween event, so plan on the game itself, which is the point anyway.

Rainbow Friends is the gentle end of the haunt: hide-and-seek against bright monsters that startle more than they scar. It had 5,372 players on October 21, and its last update was on May 29, so there is no October content to wait for. It is still the right pick when the group spans ages and the youngest player wants to say they played a scary game on Halloween.

Dead Rails puts the party on a train through a zombie western: hold the line, feed the engine, argue about whose fault the breach was. It had 15,820 players. Its title now carries an "EVENT" tag with a ghost, but nothing in its description or badges says what the event is, so we will not call it a Halloween event. It fits the night anyway, the way a monster movie marathon does.

The costume half of Halloween

For a lot of players the holiday is the outfit, not the fright.

Dress to Impress is the costume contest as a game: themed prompts, a timer, a runway, a verdict. It had 92,312 players on October 21, up from about 36,000 on September 2, and its title now carries a pumpkin tag, though its description does not say what the update adds. Build the costume, walk it, get judged. If the runway format hooks you, the games like Dress to Impress list carries the thread further.

Royale High is the slower, more ornate dress-up, and it has the longest Halloween record of any game here. Its description announces that "the Royalloween Realms are back", along with a 2026 Candy Bag and new Candy Shop accessories, and its badge list holds Halloween badges dated 2017 through 2021 and again 2024 through 2026. The 2026 one, Royalloween 2026, was created on September 8 and had been awarded 901,157 times by October 21, already more than the 2025 badge (801,544) and the 2024 one (742,895), but a long way from 2021's 17,519,105. Badge counts are awards, not a head count, but each year's badge is counted the same way. It had 5,940 players on October 21.

Brookhaven is where the neighborhood side of Halloween happens: houses, streets, families, roleplay. At 347,626 players on October 21 it is the second-largest game on this list, and on Halloween it becomes the platform's trick-or-treat block: costumes on, door to door, story optional. Its latest listed update is a wellness estate, not a holiday, so the decorating is up to the players.

For the long dark night

Slow-burn picks for the solo player or the pair who want October atmosphere more than screams.

99 Nights in the Forest is a dark-forest survival loop: keep the fire lit, mark the nights, don't wander far. When we first wrote this, nothing about it was branded Halloween. That has changed, though you would not know it from the title or the description. The badge list shows it: three Halloween badges dated October 17 (collect a first candy, carve a pumpkin, trick-or-treat in a full costume) and ten more on October 19, from carving 30 pumpkins in one game to trick-or-treating 500 times. By October 21 the first candy badge had been awarded 5,792,116 times and the pumpkin one 2,312,942 times. With 183,000 players, up from about 88,000 on September 2, it is the biggest Halloween event among these picks.

SCP-3008 locks you in an infinite furniture store where the staff turn hostile after closing. It had 11,135 players, and its last update was on September 20, with nothing seasonal in it. The scare is the setting itself, fluorescent daylight you learn to dread losing, and building a barricade out of bookshelves with a friend is peak low-key Halloween.

The Mimic is the closest Roblox gets to a horror film: chaptered, story-driven, drawn from Japanese folklore, better in the dark with headphones. It is also the clearest example of a developer reusing an old event. Its description now opens with "Halloween Trial badges are now available again", and the two badges in question were created on October 19, 2024: Halloween Trials Completed (290,036 awards, 326 of them in the last day) and "Trick Or Treat" Completed (64,392). It had 2,779 players on October 21. Bring exactly one friend; more breaks the spell.

Two deeper cuts, honestly labeled

Apeirophobia (471 players on October 21) and Pressure (1,040) are quieter rooms than everything above, and we would rather say so than pad their numbers. Neither shows a Halloween event. Both are worth the visit anyway: Apeirophobia is the Backrooms done seriously, with liminal levels, camera-monster rules and real dread, and Pressure is the DOORS formula taken underwater and played straight. Small crowds, strong haunts.

Several of these say "Part 1" or "Part 2", which means the event is staged and may change again before October 31. Check the game's own page before you plan a night around a specific item.

How to pick the night

Match the game to the group, not the other way around. A full call wants Murder Mystery 2 or Forsaken; a pair wants The Mimic or SCP-3008; a solo October evening wants 99 Nights, which this year comes with pumpkins to carve; and if the answer is "we want the costume part," that is Dress to Impress or Royale High night, no apology needed. If the event matters more than the mood, Evade, 99 Nights, Royale High and The Mimic are the four picks whose own record describes a Halloween event today.
